Galerie Zimmermann Kratochwill is a gallery for contemporary art with an innovative program. Since its foundation in October 2010, we have been promoting contemporary art by national and international artists with a focus on socio-political positions in a local and global context. In the development and realization of long-term artistic projects, we are in close contact with the artists and take a supportive position; both in projects that are directly related to the gallery and those that go beyond the scope of the gallery.
The gallery's program focuses on quality in formal implementation, content-related examination of current issues and coherence in the artistic positions represented. For us, being a gallery means supporting artists in the realization of their ideas in the best possible way and making their artistic articulations accessible to a broad public. In addition, we consider the mediation between artists, interested parties and collectors through regular exhibition activities and accompanying documentation through publications to be one of our central tasks.

Aquariums – perhaps the best word to describe Petra Schweifer's paintings. One dives into memories of hidden spaces and dares to look into illuminated apartments, buses full of people, into displays and cell phones – into wishes, sadness, longing. And out of trains, the pages of a book – out to hopes and fears. Petra Schweifer combines the inside and outside in an impressive and experimental way and invites us to discover the world – tender, open and full of possibilities.
