Non-profit organisation for the mediation of art, culture and science

Akademie Graz is working interdisciplinary at the interface of art and society. It is dedicated to imparting critical reflections on socio-political issues.
Therefore artistic productions and innovative mediation formats are developed. We do this especially in cooperation with (young) artists as well as with educational and social institutions in Styria.

Through rgional cooperations and internatinal networks Akademie Graz is kaleidoscopically present at various locations. The programs are mainly realized in Graz or in the Styria area.

  • Richard Fleissner, born in Munich in 1960, grew up in Styria, studied at the University of Applied Arts and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Prof. Bruno Gironcoli. He is a former punk musician, sculptor, painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, object artist and poet. In his works, he draws on material waste from the environment that has become superfluous and transforms it into something new. He deals with anachronisms, draws on what has become superfluous, on the material waste of the environment, and transforms what is already there into something new, thus opening up new perspectives and scope for interpretation. Fleissner's work attempts to build a bridge between old and new. The artist lives in Vienna. Numerous exhibitions, including"Expo - Young Italian Art" in Bari in 1982 and "Kick Off" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1994.
