WERKSTADT GRAZ is founded outside the Internet founded nevertheless something like a virtual city. - In the meantime 'virtual city buildings' and media expeditions have been built and carried out by 150 international
artists and researchers. Since 1979, in addition to 'analog spaces' at Sporgasse 16, various networks also exist that can be accessed worldwide.

“GETTING HANDS-ON” is the unceasing and constant motto and daily guiding principle for committed “WORK” in the realm of a confidently authorised artistic practice, if it is not to end up in a cultural-political no-man’s-land! The WERKSTADT GRAZ exhibition presents artworks and instructions for action ranging from the hand as a surface for presentation, through bodily self-observation and self-awareness,to subversive ‘INTERVENTION’ in existing monumental power structures.
